Keeping two separate blogs running was a nice idea, but much as I've enjoyed writing about my favourite music over at The Mixtapes Lives On, I've had to knock that blog on the head. Which means I'll be writing about my favourite new (and old) musical discoveries here at Sunset Over Slawit again (and bringing back the Top Tens, which should please some of you). But if you want to know what else I'm listening to, you could do a whole lot worse than follow me over at This Is My Jam.
Davey introduced me to this site last week and it's already my favourite social networking thingy on the interweb. It's such a simple idea, I can't believe nobody thought of it already. You just choose your favourite song and make it your current Jam... then follow a bunch of friends and other interesting weirdoes you've met online... and voila, you instantly have a radio station programmed by people of discerning taste with an ever-changing, always fascinating playlist of wonders.
The site has already introduced me to some great new music, beginning with Pris, a spiky, punky two girl band from London who list among their major influences Kenickie, Angelica, The Waitresses, Deborah Harry and "Madonna When She Was Young". You can hear it all in their debut single...
...and better still, you can get a free copy of that single (a double A-side with The Better You Look The More You See) from the Pris website. And no, I don't mean a free download... I mean a free CD! Gotta like their style...
